Nick's opened its doors to the Lafayette and Purdue markets in April of 1979. Converted from an old Kroger grocery store that sat vacant, the 9500 square foot facility was Lafayette's first and only disco. With its Saturday Night Fever lighted dance floor and dynamic sound system, people came from miles around to shake their groove thing.
Over the years Nick's evolved into a true nightclub featuring the Comedy caravan and great live music as well as their own in house DJ's. Comedians such as Sinbad, Ellen Degeneres, Rosie O' Donnell, Paula Poundstone, Heywood Banks, Gallagher and so many more got their starts at Nick's.
Bands like Blind Melon, 311, Marshall Tucker, Rare Earth, Matthew Sweet and more as well as local and regional favorites such as Ma Kelley, Henry Lee Summer, Micheal Kelsey, Rich Hardesty, Bodacious, Roadmaster, Faith, Duke Tomato and Dr. Bop and the Headliners all packed the house in their day.
In 1994, Nick's changed its concept to Nick's Billiards Cafe, an upscale pool parlor featuring 18 pool tables. It stayed that way until August of 2006 when it once again converted back into a nightclub concept.
Today, Nick's features the areas best DJ's, a huge dance floor, a dynamic sound system, and great live bands every weekend. With two full service bars in the house, the staff is excited and anxious for you to rediscover Nick's. Come join us and see why we're "Purdue's Place to Party," and a West Lafayette landmark since 1979.
Also... The Comedy Caravan is back as well, every Wednesday night featuring top national touring comedians.
